My paternal grandma would hang her laundry out to dry. Growing up I would run and play in between the sheets hanging in the wind. I can still remember the smell of the laundry detergent mixed with the fresh air and grass.

The original cushion used for the press mold belonged to my paternal grandparents. They would attend every concert, recital and play I was in growing up. My grandpa would bring a cushion for my grandma to sit on so she would be comfortable.
“The Devil in My Bloodstream” is a song by a band called The Wonder Years. It made me think about how we inherent certain traits and traumas from family. Some of my best and worst qualities come from my father’s side of my family and learning to accept that is an ongoing challenge.
